EMP Coaching Structure 2023/24

Updated: Sep 6, 2023

EMP is pleased to announce the structure of our Cricket Program for 2023/24 with a new and also returning face joining the team.

With the formalisation by Cricket Victoria of Premier Club run Academies, the club has

re-structured our Senior Coaching Program, along with the introduction of a new Head of Academy role.

George Shaw will move into the new role of Head of Academy, overseeing the club’s ‘Spitfires Academy’ comprising of the Under 15 and Under 18 teams, and the programs and activities supporting these teams to identify and welcome new talent into the club. The 22/23 Premiership Coach will also support the Senior Program Coaches in a dual role as Director of Coaching. His mentorship and experience invaluable in developing the next wave of EMP Senior Coaches.

Stephanie Theodore and Natalie Grero will oversee the Senior Program as they move into a shared role as Program Co-Ordinators. They will be charged with developing and delivering the Senior Cricket Program, including training structure and individual player development plans. In addition, both will have roles as Match Day Coaches with Steph taking charge of the 1st XI and

Nat continuing in her previous role as Captain/Coach of the 3rd XI.

Joining the coaching panel is a returning favourite in Charis Scott. The Scottish International will coach the 2nd XI side and return to the field donning the red and black for her second stint in Australia. Since her time at EMP in 2019/20, where she took out the Best Club Person Award, Charis has turned her hand to coaching in Scotland with various roles at junior and senior level, as well as representing her country on the field.

We also welcome Sue Rose to EMP who has been appointed as Assistant Coach. Sue’s role will primarily focus on training assistance, closely working with the Program Co-Ordinators in successful delivery of the senior training program. Sue brings a long and successful history in indoor cricket, playing and coaching at state and national level alongside her cricket career which includes time at

premier level. Sue will also be one of the coaches for the U15s 'Spitfires'.

Rob Ward will continue in the role of List Manager. A tireless worker behind the scenes, Rob will continue to head up the talent ID/recruiting aspect of the club as well as co-ordinate the selection process.

With the Senior Coaching positions confirmed, the club is currently finalising the remaining Spitfires Academy positions with announcements to come in the coming weeks.

We now look forward to pre season starting on August 10 as our quest for back to back titles begins.
